In practice, that means the band fit matters more than it does in a wired style, a size that would be fine with underwire can feel noticeably looser or tighter without it. It's also why your usual size in a different brand or style isn't always a safe assumption here.

How to Measure Yourself Properly

Band measurement: Wrap a soft tape measure directly under your bust, where the band of a bra would sit. Keep it snug and level, not tight. Round to the nearest whole number.

Bust measurement: Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust, keeping it level across your back. Don't pull it tight — it should sit the way fabric would.

Cup size: Subtract your band measurement from your bust measurement. Each inch of difference roughly corresponds to a cup size (1" = A, 2" = B, 3" = C, and so on).

If you're between two band sizes, size up rather than down, this matters more for jelly bras than wired styles, since there's no rigid frame to compensate for a snug band.

Straps slipping: check they're adjusted all the way and sitting flat against your shoulder, not twisted. If they still slip with the band correctly sized, the band itself may be too loose.
