Sprinkle some self-love into your life!
The month of love is upon us and who better to give some love to than yourself? Self-care and self-love are two of the best gifts so treat yourself this Valentine’s Day and give yourself the love you deserve.
Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with your love, your Valentines or are curling up for a movie marathon (don’t forget the popcorn!), make sure all your self-love needs are taken care of as you celebrate yourself!
The most important love is self-love and often it can be forgotten to be made the priority that it must be! By taking the time to care for your well-being, body, and soul you’ll find yourself feeling more peaceful, positive and overflowing with love.
What actually is self-love?
The phrase self-love is mentioned a lot, but you may be thinking what actually is it? Self-love means taking the time to appreciate yourself, and your physical and psychological needs and look after your well-being. It means putting yourself first and taking the time to do what makes you feel good. Self-love is a general concept but can look different for everyone.
Why is self-love important?
Practising self-love is important because it sets the foundations for a more positive and peaceful outlook on life. Self-love can lead to more self-confidence and self-belief that can lead to a happier and more fulfilled life! Not to mention, you deserve to feel the love you put out there and you can’t pour from an empty cup so loving yourself is always the best place to start!
If you’re wanting to embark on your journey of self-love but are unsure where to start, then we have a few examples of different ways you can intertwine it into your everyday life!
1. The power of positivity
Although it may not seem like much, the way you speak about yourself, to yourself and to others can play a big part in self-love. If you’re constantly being negative and criticising yourself, you’ll create negative patterns that will get into your head and hinder your ability for self-love.
By accepting yourself, thinking and speaking about yourself positively and empowering your mind, you will find that you feel happier and more at one with yourself. This act of self-love can be slipped into your everyday life, and you’ll be amazed at the results!
2. Happy mind, happy life
Meditating connects you with your thoughts and channels your inner peace. If possible, make time in your day to clear your head and focus on your thoughts. Deep breathing can relax you and give you that time to breathe, which is sometimes harder than it seems to obtain in the business of everyday life.
Find a quiet space and relax your mind as you breathe deeply and focus on yourself. This is important as it helps to keep your mind and thoughts balanced and peaceful, allowing you to have time to reflect.
3.Your body is a temple
Your body is your home and it’s always working hard to look after you and give you what you need. Give it the same love back! By getting regular exercise, eating healthy and getting enough sleep, you’ll nourish it with all the love it needs to keep you feeling as amazing as you deserve!
Putting your headphones in and going for a walk can drastically improve your mood, improve your energy, and make you feel great! Even if you don’t feel like the run, the healthy meal or the early night, self-love means doing what’s best for your well-being and your body!
4. Practise gratitude by journaling
Journaling allows you a minute to stop and slow down as you gather your thoughts and get them down on paper. Taking the time each day to make a list of affirmations, goals, and parts of life you’re grateful for, can make you feel more positive and appreciative of yourself and your surroundings.
Each morning, make a list of three things you’re grateful for, three things you love about yourself and three things you want to achieve in your day. Keep your goals realistic, your gratitude thoughtful and your self-love flowing!
5. Make time for what you love
Life can be busy and stressful at times, and it can be easy to let self-love slip your mind! By listening to your body and doing what you love, you’re putting yourself first and giving yourself the love you deserve. Feeling good on the inside is so important to keep upbeat and happy!
If you’re feeling overwhelmed and you’re craving some alone time, don’t agree to plans. Instead, cook yourself a delicious meal and have a movie night! Equally, if you feel like you need some “me-time” then spend time washing your hair, painting your nails or anything that makes you feel good!
Whatever self-love looks like to you, make time for yourself, and treat yourself like the queen you are! Listen to your body and do what makes you feel good, and we’ll just sit back and watch you take the world by storm!
